Requirements
Why upgrade
Long pedal travel and a soft, spongy feel cost you confidence on the street and stopping distance on the track. The BM57 has a 17/16″ (27mm) bore, so it moves more fluid for the same pedal input. The pedal firms up and travel gets shorter.
It’s the simplest way to sharpen brake response while keeping your brake booster. Want to soften the pedal again? Pair the BM57 with a larger booster. Our article on big bore master cylinder vs brake booster delete covers the options.
BM57 or BM50?
Both suit street and track use.
- BM57 (27mm): shorter travel, firm pressure. For drivers who like to brake by pressure.
- BM50 (25.4mm): standard travel, balanced pressure. For a familiar street car feel.
Will it fit my car?
The BM57 suits right-hand drive cars running 4-piston calipers. For left-hand drive, see the BM57 LHD.
ABS cars: block either the middle port or the rear port closest to the booster with the included tapered grub screw. The two ports are the same, split in two.
Brake lines: the ports are on the side. If your lines feed from the top or bottom, most can be carefully bent around to reach them.
Fluid level sensor: the connector is rectangular and swaps to either side. If your car has a round or other shaped plug, cut it off and crimp spade terminals onto the two wires to connect.

Fitting
The BM57 bolts to the factory booster and brake lines with no modifications. Swap the fluid sensor connector to the side you need before fitting, as it’s much easier on the bench.
Check brake booster push rod clearance as you fit it. Our brake booster push rod adjusting tool makes this quicker. Once fitted, bleed the brakes and check the lines, proportioning bias screw and reservoir grommets are free of leaks before driving.
